Dermatology multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural

At present we are offering three types of light treatment ...

The first one being UV-B therapy, by which we treat psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema)vitiligo (loss of skin color) and some other skin diseases. With this kind of treatment we don’t need salves, oil or any other medication. We are using a full body cabin. Because overexposure to UV-B light can burn the skin, the exposure time is regulated by a timer that turns off the lamp after 15 to 240 seconds. Depending on the ailments, 3 to 5 treatments per week are necessary, over a range of up to eight weeks. It has to be noted, that the body should not be exposed to sunlight on the day of treatment and that a high quality body lotion should be used after each treatment.

... the second one is a combined Psoralen and UV-A treatment (PUVA).

Skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema (mainly very persistent cases at the hands or feet) and vitiligo can be successfully treated by PUVA. The method takes advantage of the high UV absorbance of psoralen, which is applied first to sensitise the skin before UV-A light is applied.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

PDT stands for Photodynamic Therapy, which is recognised as a treatment strategy which is both minimally invasive and minimally toxic. In the treatment of skin conditions like actinic keratosis, Bowen's disease and basalioma, the photosensitizer are applied topically and are locally excited by a light source. A lamp of Heine.Med, a “PhotoDyn® 750“ is used for this treatment, allowing for a painless procedure.
