Dermatology multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural

Statenkliniek is a specialised clinic in the field of dermatology. In addition to dermatologists, there are also skin therapists. The skin therapist is the paramedic for the care of our largest organ: the skin. The skin therapist is also specialised in the treatment of the affected skin and, where possible, also provides cosmetic treatments.

Melasma

We have been treating Melasma with intensive pulsed light (IPL) with good success for some time now. Recently, we have introduced a new treatment method, which also shows good success with deeper melasma. The treatment consists of three treatments, which we apply in our clinic and an additional treatment set, which you apply parallel at home. If the dermatologist recommends this highly effective but complex treatment with Cosmelan®, you will receive an individual price offer.

Botulinum toxin

Stacks Image 4970
Botulinum toxin (aka Botox®)is a substance that relaxes the muscles and has been used for many years in medicine as an injectable agent. The special thing about this injection is that it fights muscle activity as the cause of certain wrinkles. The effect of botulinum toxin is not permanent, but can be repeated without problems. Botulinum toxin injections are considered safe and will be done by one of the dermatologists of StatenClinic.

Acne Therapy

Stacks Image 4963
Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. Acne has various manifestations, ranging from mild to severe. Various factors can influence the development of acne.
The skin therapist is treating acne by deep cleansing, a peeling with special acids, blue-light therapy or a combination of these three. The treatment is often carried out in combination with the treatment of a dermatologist.

Blue Light Therapy

This therapy uses a special lamp with light ranging from 405 - 450 nanometers wavelength at high intensity. The blue light activates a light-sensitive substance of the bacterium Propionibacterium Acnes, which destroys this bacterium. This will reduce pustules and redness and prevent and/or eliminate skin infections. This very simple and natural therapy is suitable for all skin types.

Coagulation Therapy

A benign tumor is a mass of cells (tumor) that lacks the ability to invade neighboring tissue or metastasize. These do not spread into, or invade, nearby tissues; however, they can sometimes be quite large. When removed, benign tumors usually do not grow back, whereas malignant tumors sometimes do. By applying coagulation, benign skin tumours are burned away. Prior to the treatment, the dermatologist determines whether the skin condition is suitable for coagulation to be applied.

Cryotherapie

Stacks Image 4912
Cryotherapy is a method that uses very cold liquid nitrogen. This causes the skin cells of benign tumours, age spots or sun damage to be frozen so that the skin defect eventually disappears. Prior to the treatment, the dermatologist determines whether the skin condition is suitable for cryotherapy to remove.

Curettage

Stacks Image 4919
Curettage is a treatment method using a surgical instrument. The goal is to scrape off skin tissue to make the skin condition equal to the normal skin surface. A superficial abrasion remains and heals with a crust. Prior to treatment, the dermatologist determines whether the skin condition is suitable for curettage removal.

Skin Improvement

Ordinary scars, atrophic (recessed scars in the skin) scars, hypertrophic scars (thickened tissue) and stretch marks can be treated within skin therapy. For the treatment of scars and stretch marks, the Fractional Erbium:Glass laser/ResurFX® is the newest and most advanced laser. This laser is suitable for light and dark skin types. In fractional laser therapy, a fraction of the skin is damaged in a controlled manner. The result is a natural stimulation of the connective tissue cells that produce collagen and elastin. The result is new connective tissue which makes the relief and color less visible. This very simple and natural therapy is suitable for all skin types.

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is an intensive peeling that visibly improves the skin. With this controlled peeling, an etching substance is applied to the skin so that the epidermis (upper skin layer) dries up and is repelled. This stimulates the skin to cell renewal. The skin becomes visibly smoother and the structure improves.

IPL Therapy Against Excessive Body Hair Growth

Stacks Image 4938
Hair growth is partly hormone-driven, but can also be congenital. At Statenkliniek the skin therapist has an advanced IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device. This method of permanent depilation focuses on the pigment in the hair follicle. The light rays destroy the hair follicle and hair does not grows back.

Couperose

Stacks Image 4945
Couperose is a network of thin red, sometimes blue capillaries in the face or on the décolleté, which lie just below the skin. These vessels are no longer functional as they do not contribute to the transport of blood to the heart. This condition can be effectively treated with an IPL device.

IPL Thearpy and Laser Therapy with Vascular Indications

The examination of the superficial medium-deep as well as the deeper vessels is carried out by means of duplex sonography. Once the vessels have been measured, the treatment can be decided.

Superficial, very small vessels can be treated with IPL or Nd-YAG laser. Spider veins or reticular varices as well as small side branches can be treated with sclerotherapy.
